New Year coming
We went out shopping today at the Salvation Army store and I got 3 pair of Levi's to post on e-bay. Haven't gotten around to it yet, probably will soon however. Levi's seem to sell well. I got two jeans for myself and one doesn't fit of course. I really need to go on a "healthy eating plan" fast! I won't call it Diet! No more white for me, white bread, flour, sugar, pasta etc... Lots of veggies, yogurt, fruit, whole grains etc...
We are expecting some weather to come in for tomorrow.. Cold too. Hope it is nice in other parts of the country! Enjoy your New Year's eve everyone!

How lovely
It is so nice to sit here typing with my lovely cat Brownie on my lap purring away. She gave me a fright this morning. I opened the front door to let the dog in and she went out! She didn't go but a foot out the door and stopped and I coaxed her back in. I don't want her gone again! We have nearly two feet of snow outside. I hate it! Too early for this! I did some more shopping last night. Good old Target. I had got a leopard print throw for Sarah's bed and last night they had the matching pillows on sale too! So I grabbed those. Also a Bratz doll and a Fur real babies Chipmunk. Its the cutest little thing! Got the boys another game. $60 bucks for a stupid game! Here I complain about how much time they spend online and we feed the addiction. I had two gift certificates from a charity at my work that paid for it. They were very generous and got them clothes and toys also. I am grateful for the help I recieved this year. I have a ton of wrapping to do still! Have to go out tonight and finish things up. Sarah will be staying late and her Grandmother's Christmas eve for a family gathering there. Her aunt, uncle and father will be there. I hope her father gets her something, he didn't even call her on her birthday. Last year he got her a BB gun for Christmas and she doesn't even get to use it because he keeps it at his house and she doesn't go there.
Well enough of him. Have to go to work! Linda

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas?
Apparently I've been wishing for a white Christmas because its coming! Got over 8 inches between yesterday and today and more coming tomorrow! Now I like snow as much as the next person, but this is ridiculous! I better buy another shovel and stock up on salt and birdseed! I sent the boys out today to clear some of the driveway and they were out there for 2 minutes claiming it was "good enough". Rich has kept most of it cleared. When I was a kid there was no such thing as "good enough". We went out there and shoveled for hours! Of course a nice hot cup of cocoa was waiting for us after! That was reward enough in those days. Now the kids are lazy and spoiled. I know I only have myself to blame for that. My daughter got a real attitude this morning because we had to go to Albany and she could not find her Nintendo DS. She was sure it was on the couch and that Travis was laying on it. She carried on and refused to get ready until she had it. I finally lost my temper and yelled at her and practically dragged her out the door. She whined and carried on in the car for 1/2 hour and when we got nearly home later she remembered it was by her bed. She has quite the attitude, stomping about and yelling at me and she is only 9! If I ever acting like that, I would of gotten it and good!

Another snow storm
Yep, in for some more snow tomorrow. I hope I don't get stuck at work. One of our seniors invited me to spend the night in his bed if I do. He said we don't sleep side to side but top to bottom! I asked him if that means he sleeps under the bed.. LOL! Then he said his bed is like the Mayflower, once you are on board you can't get off and have to go across. Here are pictures of Brownie feeling right at home. Also me and Buzzy!

Brownie came home!
This is not a picture of my cat, but one that looks very similar. Karl told me today that Brownie was on the front steps, so while there have been sightings lately, I doubted I would actually get her. When I opened the door I saw her crawling under the car. I got a bag of food and shook it and she came running and calling! I scooped her right up and brought her in the house. She is now in Sarah's room and beginning to relax and is enjoying alot of attention! I'm so glad she is home and hope she stays!

My sister
I found out yesterday that my sister is going to need a HIP replacement! She is only 44! She said she has no range of motion in it and it is bone on bone. I was very surprised to find this out. I have been having hip problems myself for a couple years. My doctor says it is bursitis. I might ask for an x-ray. I'm supposed to go to a specialist anyhow..

Ice storm
We are expecting an ice storm overnight tonight. We were supposed to get just snow but now the forecast has been changed to ice. Pretty sure school will be closed tomorrow. Worked most of the week and have tomorrow off. This week was a struggle with Sarah not feeling well and myself not feeling well. I feel better now and Sarah does also. I put her back on her insulin pump and she is doing pretty good with it. The nurse is impressed with Sarah's knowledge of how to work it. She is of course supervised. We had a holiday decorating contest at work and the decorating this year sure went to a whole new level. One unit was a Funky Monkey Christmas. Another did a Hawaiian theme as well as the Nutritional Services dept. There was also a Gingerbread Lane and a Polar Express theme. I will try and remember to bring my camera this weekend to take pictures. I just have to make sure I don't photograph any residents. Against work policy of course for privacy of residents.

My farm, my Mom, my Daughter
Look at this little girl. How pretty and grown up looking she is getting to be! Hard to believe she is 9 already. She is posing after her concert last week. Now she is still little enough to sit on Santa's lap. That picture was taken at the Circle of Life camp Christmas party. It is for children with diabetes and their families. They gave a gift to each child and has veggies and dip. Then pizza and cookies. Also some medical companies were there giving out things like T-shirts, backpacks, free meters! I love free stuff!
I have started playing Myfarm on facebook. What a fun little application that is. Growing veggies and raising animals. My farm is pretty pathetic right now, but hopefully I'll get there.
I talked to my Mom the other day and was upset because her diabetes Dr. seems to think her heart is going and she may have blockages etc.. She is having problems with her legs and with weakness. She has been having seizures also. I am so worried about her and wish I could go down and be with her...

New items in E-bay
Isn't this a great tag? It is by Donna of D's Designs. She makes all sorts of great tags and snags.
I feel like I might be coming down with a cold, I hope not. I hate colds. Of course I hate stomach bugs worse than colds. I am going to try and hit up a thrift shop today in Ballston Spa and look for some clothes. I sold a pair of black Levi's jeans that I got for $1.00 for $20.00. Maybe it was one of you that bought them, if so thanks and I hope you aren't mad! I sold a regular blue pair for much less. I also got myself two nice sweatshirts with a winter design on them. Like new for less than $5 and the shipping was very reasonable. It is certainly a learning curve for selling. Figuring out what is hot and what is not.
It is a cold, clear morning. I went out to take out the dog and all the stars are out. Made me think of the song "Our God is an awesome God!".
I was glad to hear that most people had a good holiday and most also seem to be looking forward to the next one!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! I have good memories of Thanksgiving as a little girl. My Mom always fixed a big feast with all the usual goodies. Turkey, stuffing (homemade), gravy, mashed potatoes, squash, cranberry sauce and usually 3 different kinds of pie! I liked helping my Mom make the stuffing especially. She made alot so we spend alot of time ripping up bread! Anyhow, today I am spending it at home with Rich and the kids and Rich invited a bachelor friend up from Albany. So he will be joining us also! One of the turkeys in this picture I put up might be in our oven today! The picture is from the farm where we got the turkey.

Blooming rosebud
My little girl is growing up. We have noticed physical signs of development recently at the tender age of 9! Yes apparently this is normal. I myself was a late bloomer so find this a little disturbing to see my "little" girl turning into a young woman!
We have been having cold weather lately. A bit of snow flurries too. Thanksgiving is next week. Hard to believe! I have not starting shopping yet for Christmas.

Clarence Dart- Congressional Medal of Honor recipient
I just met a famous veteran in these parts on Veteran's day. He is Clarence Dart. His son used to be my math teacher in elementary school. I never realized how important he was until just recently. He was a member of the Tuskegee airmen. A black squadron who served in WW2. He is also a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. If you click on his name above, there is an interview there where he tells his life story up to his involvement in WW2.

New England mini vacation
We also did a little caching there in Norfolk!
Here I am getting wet feet! We spent the night at the Day's Inn at Old Saybrook where Katherine Hepburn used to live. Not at the Day's Inn of course! We ate at a local fish place which was very good but crowded and noisy.
The next day we headed out toward Mystic and stopped to see the ocean and say some beautiful views!
I think I am going to make a slide show tonight to show everyone the pictures. If someone can give me some hints on how to get my photos where I want them on here instead of clustered at the top and then having to try to drag them into the proper position that would be great. I am getting very frustrated with this whole deal with the photos. Some of them won't drag where I want them to go... Seems they should go where the cursor is instead of to the top.

Happy Friday!
I am so glad it is Friday! I have the weekend off, but as all of you know, weekends off fly by so fast, you wonder if you even had one! I had a bad day at work yesterday, I was so tired and lethargic all day I was sick with it. I don't know if I didn't sleep well, I have a suspicion that I may have sleep apnea.
Have all of you noticed the fast decrease in the price of gas? Every day its is becoming quite fun to drive by the gas station and take note of how much further the price has dropped.
I took Sarah to the bookfair at her school last night. She got a book on Pokemon characters. I wished she had picked an actual reading book but....
The local DARE officer also called to invite Sarah to the annual Christmas party. They host it for low income families mostly. I guess we qualify this year to an extent. She will be getting boots. I hope they are at least somewhat "girly". Not much else going on in my little corner of the world. This cute tag is from Dimah. I will add the link to her journal later.
