Got my income tax return and splurged on a Wii. Me and the kids have been having a fun time with it. We played bowling and I got a game Samba something. The one Jeannette has been playing. It is alot of fun. I also got a gift card from my Dad for Christmas. Got some new sneaks for work. The rest went to the Wii. That is the family gift. Not much else going on. Linda

Too sexy for TV-Peta ads

Too Hot for TV: PETA's Banned Ads

Anybody have a stud dog?

(Want to thank everyone for the comments, I agree that letting her have puppies is not a responsible thing to do. I think we should get her fixed too.) Yuppers, our Esther is in heat. She is about 9 years old and Rich thought she couldn't come into heat anymore. But lately she has been... "ahem", paying more attention to her private areas and sure enough now she is leaving little notes all over. Now personally this is like hell for me because I cannot stand dogs licking themselves. Big dogs, even worse. It is all I can do not to scream when they begin lop, lop, lopping away! I have to yell at them or leave the room or I will go nuts. So needless to say, Esther is really making me a basket case right now! There is a male across the street who is part Sharpei, Chow and lab maybe. His name is Dex and he is a beautiful big boy. I asked his owner and she said she would talk to her hubby, but I haven't heard back. No, I am not breeding her to stop the licking by the way. I probably won't do it anyhow because we have enough to deal with without puppies too!
The snow storm was a bit of a dud. We only got about 7 inches of snow. We got a mix in the afternoon and the forecast said it wasn't going to do that, but it did. Have a nice day everyone!

Doesn't this look like fun?

Hey Mom, this one is for you! Yes we are in the blue. It is snowing already at 6:51 am. I should be getting ready for work but I'm being a little slow this morning. Kids don't have school. Regents exams are going to be re-scheduled. Traffic is going to be a nightmare. I guess cars are off the road already in some places and there is only a little snow on the ground. I bet the snowplow guys will be earning their paychecks today!

Here we snow again!

More and more and more snow! We are expecting 8-14 in. of snow by tomorrow night. I am ready for spring but realize we still have at least 2 more months of winter like weather to go. I heard that Greta found a good home. The person who took her did not tell me personally, I had to hear about it on Craigslist but at least I found out. Not too much going on here. Still debating the bankruptcy thing but am going to start getting the paperwork together to take care of it if I need to.

Greta's first home not working for her...

In my opinion this Mike and Dawn don't know squat about dogs...

Hi Linda,
Greta is actually back in our care. From everything you told us about her, and the short time David and I have had with her I didn't think she was going to be a problem. Here is an email from the people who we had adopted Greta out to last night....

Hey David and Lisa, it's Mike and Dawn. We picked up the Shiba Inu last night. I really want to say that last night was the worse night of our lives. "GRETA" was great until we went to bed. All she did was howel and bark and wimper all night. She also destroyed 3 of Dawns expensive plants. She got into the pantry and somehow decided that the cooking oil would be great to chew on and spill all over the place. After getting up and checking on her to see if she was alright, we discovered what she had done. She also decided to knock the garbage can over and spill all the garbage out of the can. She growled at Dawn several times. It intimidated her and scared her. She also scratched the 1 bedroom door we put her in for only 10 or 15 minutes to get her accommodated before letting her roam through the house and check things out. She pooped in the one bedroom after in the middle of the night. I let her out before we went too bed. We live in a very nice home with expensive things. After just last night, we decided that this was not a good idea. We just want too know if you could take her back. It's a shame because, I really like her. We just cannot have a dog that is going to destroy our home and keep us up all night with her action. One reason my wife agreeded about getting the dog was, is that she has Colorectal Cancer Stage 3 and she wanted me too have somekind of companion if anything is too happen after her chemotherapy treatments. I told her I would love to have a dog, especially a Shiba Inu, and just happens there was Greta, it's just a shame she is not what we expected. Please consider taking her back, we know you take in dogs and adopt them out. We are going to Saratoga this evening to stay at friends for the night. Hopefully you will consider taking her back and finding her a home that she won't destroy, and owners that have the time and patience for such a pet. We just cannot afford to have our home destroyed anymore. With us going away over night to our friends, we do not want too come home to anymore damage. Please call us as soon as possible. Mike and Dawn.

More dog rescue

Another exciting dog rescue day yesterday. Sarah's grandmother told me that the ex was in JAIL for not paying a fine. So I went up there with her last evening and lo and behold, there was no girlfriend there. Just the dog running around with his leash on. Now people, you have heard of dirty houses... This house should be condemned. Piles of trash on the floor. Pizza boxes, rotting food. Bottles, cans, dog feces all over. You can't even walk with out having to step through trash. Down the hall was all dog feces and in both bedrooms. The bathrooms were unusable. Black toilets and garbage and filth everywhere. I am going to go up and snap some pictures. Maybe useful someday. I don't see how any human can live like that. Animals don't even live like that unless forced to. Otto was so happy to come with me and was thrilled at my house. He was hungry and is eating constantly and drinking alot. He has not had an accident yet. I'm surprised seeing as he is used to using the house as a toilet. On a different note, that couple I gave my other dog too.. I have not heard from them at all yesterday and I am a little concerned. You hear stories about people getting animals for the purpose of using them for pitbull bait or other bad things. I should of checked them out more. They claimed to be starting up an animal shelter and would foster animals until they find a home for them. I hope she is legit.

Crazy dog day

My ex called and wanted me to get the female dog he had. I had wanted her years ago, but he denied her to me. So now that he is getting kicked out I can have her. Unfortunately I couldn't keep her. She had to be re-homed immediately because she is bad with other dogs and cats. I found a nice couple who are in the process of setting up a shelter and are fostering animals etc.. They just came and picked up Greta. I feel bad, but hopefully it will mean a better life for this poor dog who has been neglected and tortured the last couple years by a drunken a-hole. She is a Shiba Inu. Here is a picture of a similar dog.

It's a miracle or is it?

I called the ex to see if I could still come up to get my things and he claims his g/f is now home from the hospital after her "stroke". He says she was helicoptered to another hospital but they sent her home in a cab today. Whaaaat? Nobody comes home in a cab one day after having a stroke. Oh and she is paralyzed and can't walk so HE is taking care of her. He was also drunk again when I called at 4 in the afternoon. Me thinks someone is telling stories...

Phone call from the ex

Out of the blue the ex called me and was crying drunkenly about how his girlfriend has had a stroke and taken to the hospital. Then he got online and talked to me for an hour. Telling me how horrible she is, hitting him over the head with liquor bottles and beating him up etc.. but she is GREAT because she LOVES him. I told him so did I but look where it got me. He says "you never loved me". I guess I needed to hit him with liquor bottles to express my love for him.. Pathetic. Now he is really upset cause his unemployment ran out for the umteenth time. He has been on since Oct of 2007. No attempt to look for a job, just drink, drink, drink. Now he is loosing his house and the dogs. I told him to apply for bankruptcy or go to social services. He probably won't do either. I am so glad I am away from him. So glad.. those of you who know my history know why. Alot of my internet friends have been there to hold my hand for me thru my years of hell with him. I thank them and all of you who show me concern and good wishes!

Change can happen! Great video

The Media Cirus

Yesterday was quite a circus! I couldn't believe the coverage of this inauguration. Alot of attention was made of the fact that he is the first black president. That is great, but lets get past that. Still I heard multiple racist statements made, mostly from residents at the nursing home. Cotton pickers, monkeys on flagpoles, there shouldn't be a black president, but I'm not racial. Overall however I would say the mood was positive and upbeat. Nothing like seeing a 91 year old white woman beaming in glee at the sight of Barack Obama swearing in as the President of the United States!
I heard they might of been up until 4 AM probably just got to bed and have to get up in a few minutes! :)

Here we go!

The day we have been waiting for is here! Barack Obama is being inaugurated today as our 44th president. What a shock him and his family have in store! I was watching on the history channel last night about presidents and how they are treated. George Bush likened it to living in a glass bubble but being treated very well while in it! I will be sneaking peeks today during work at the ceremony and will watch re-runs tonight at home. Good Luck to our new President and his family!

Man vs. Wild

The news has been filled with stories of Flight 1549 in NYC. Heros, miracles and geese. There has been a hue and cry to "KILL the geese"! Do people really think that "killing the geese" will stop the thousands of bird strikes that airplanes deal with every year? Which geese should be killed? Just the ones by the airport? What about the thousands out there ready to take their place? Shall we kill every goose in the nation? Maybe we should start on other birds when we are done with them.
When I hear about people on the warpath toward wildlife because they are simply being what they are.. wild animals.. it upsets me. Yes, it is a very upsetting thing when planes go down due to birds etc... Yes when little Bobby or Susy gets bit by a snake or mauled by a bear it is horrible.
Encounters with wildlife are only due to one thing and that is human interference! We are slowly and surely pushing these animals out of their natural habitats and into ours. Then we call them infestations or nuisances or menaces. I get a kick out of articles that describe woods as being "infested" with something, when they are simply living in their natural habitat. I think we humans are the infestation.

Frigidly cold!

See where it says -19? That is just about where I am. Yes it is cold. I had a hard time opening the front door because the knob was frozen! There is frost around the back door and on the windows of it. It is poorly sealed and will have to be fixed.
I have been having a very difficult time financially lately and I'm going to go see a lawyer tomorrow about my legal options. I hate to even take that path but I might have to. The old trailer that my Ex is still in (yes it is my name too and still my legal responsibility) is being repossessed. I have credit cards debt out the wazoo and a car I can barely afford. If any of you have been in this situation, feel free to e-mail me at geocachelinda66@aol.com for advice! Linda

More snow

We have once again been hit with a significant amount of snowfall. Not like what Woody has been getting up north of me, but about 6-7 inches of the white fluffy stuff. The dog was unable to get out because of it. He is short. The snow would of been up to his belly. I hope the plows have been out so I can get to work this morning!
I worked a little OT last night. Just an 1 and 1/2. Won't amount to much after taxes but its a little bit of help. If I won the lottery I wouldn't be one of those people who say.. I will keep working. Oh No! I will be sitting on my butt living the good life!
Inauguration day is fast upon us isn't it? I think this presidency is going to be more like a Hollywood movie than anything else thanks to the media. They have latched onto Obama and his family like piranhas! I'm eagerly awaiting the time when I can get my income tax return. I need to seriously catch up on some bills and get a few things for myself. I need new glasses and some jeans and new shoes. Being poor is not a fun thing. Of course if you ask me which would you rather have, your internet connection or new sneakers, guess what I would choose! Obviously its not the sneakers! I would like to set a little aside for a trip too. After the Nutwoods have been to Vegas it looks a bit appealing to me! Or maybe Washington DC. That would be great too! I don't know. We will see... Have a great week everyone! Linda

Bald Eagles

A recent post by Lisa of Life at a Bison Farm.
Reminded me of a picture I saw today taken near here in November. I did not take the picture but thought it was noteworthy. It was taken by a Geo caching acquaintance of mine.

Happy New Year 2009!

I didn't think I would be ringing in the New Year on blogspot, but that is ok. I have grown to enjoy it a great deal! I worked a double shift last night in exchange for having today off! I still am not feeling to hot after working so long, but I will survive! My paycheck will look a little nicer too. 6 hours of time and a half never hurt. Came home and spent a quiet time with the boys and Rich, watched the ball drop, made a movie and knocked over the champagne bottle on accident and I wasn't even drunk! Not even tipsy. It was just on the edge of the coffee table and over it went! Don't know yet what I will be doing today, not much probably, it is very cold out. I hope everyone has a great New Year and I'm looking forward to reading all of your blogs and sharing mine also.
