I know that there are some people out there that think if you can't afford to get married that you shouldn't but with a free wedding basically being given, who would turn it down? We were planning on getting married anyhow. The only problem is the extra costs. I have to get a dress, nothing fancy, maybe even a pretty white sundress. I need a dress for my daughter and a dress shirt for my sons. Shoes all around. My fiance needs a suit, we can probably rent one or he has a friend hopefully he can borrow from. We are meeting with the rep from Stewarts today to see what the deal is and start planning. So we will find out if we will be eating chili dogs at our wedding! :)
I can't remember if it includes flowers or not. Wildflowers will be abundant then. Then there are the little extras, gifts, favors, a cake cutter, wine or champagne, beer if not provided and if allowed. I realize we will be getting money as gifts, but we need it now, not later. I am flat out broke and have not been using my credit cards due to the bankruptcy proceedings. Sigh.. the tangled web we weave...
Cliff and I wore our everyday clothes. Our only expense was giving the preacher a donation. Only 2 guests (witnesses).
ReplyDeleteCan you tell I hate weddings? I'd do it the same way if I had it to do over again.
Having a large wedding is not what is important. The love you share and the commitment to each other is what is.
ReplyDeleteKen and I had our wedding at a friends home with only family and close friends. We paid for our cake, snacks, punch, our flowers and our attendants flowers and the preacher and the friend surprised us with a flower arrangement, if she had not them we wouldn't have had any extra flowers. You know I was thinking you might could have a simple wedding somewhere that was special that you two may have went to or to a park or a nature spot of some sort or your front yard if is pretty and green. We borrowed folding chairs for everyone to sit in. A wedding should not have to make a hardship on you.

Hope it all works out for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteMe and Danny got married before the justice of the peace...I wore my Sunday school skirt outfit and he had on black pants and a white shirt I believe. We had no reception, nor recieved any gifts. Times were hard back then....but the one and only thing I will always regret about my wedding day is the fact that we did not take pictures.
love,
carlene
