A Diabetic Halloween treat!

I was puzzled about how I was going to handle the candy situation tonight with Sarah and went online to check carbs for candies. I went to a couple different sites and then remembered the American Diabetes Association website. I was thinking that I would not have luck and then I saw a picture of kids and costumes and after a little searching found a complete list of common Halloween treats! What a blessing in disguise! This list is so comprehensive and helpful to me. For those of you who aren't aware, my daughter Sarah is a Type 1 diabetic. Diagnosed Dec 27th, 2008. This is our first Halloween with diabetes... Mama is nervous! So anyhow, support your local American Diabetes chapter and right now Rite Aid stores/pharmacies are taking donations, so please be generous! Diabetes isn't just for old, fat people, little kids are diagnosed everyday at a rate of 10,000 a day actually! So anyhow enjoy tonight everyone!

  5. Oh you can find sugar free candies right at walmart in the candy aisle. I know how difficult it must be to manage a small child with diabetes. Good luck to you and Happy Halloween! De ;)

  8. I never thought about having special candy here for kids who are diabetic. Would they tell people they're diabetic though? Have a good one.

I would love to know which candies you were able to give your daughter. Although my kids dont have diabetes, I would rather they have less sugar in general!!
