Hollywood's war against women

I think Hollywood or the celebrity mags should be ashamed of how they treat female celebrities regarding their weight or lack there of. No wonder so many women have eating disorders. Look at these recent pictures of Jessica Simpson who was called "fat" and the pictures of Jack Black and nothing was said regarding his weight at all. Am I the only one who thinks there is a problem here?

Drugging up the kiddies at the dentist

Yes indeed, going to the dentist for kids these days is a walk in the park. For the nervous or tantrum prone child they now can be administered a light dose of Nitrous Oxide also known as Laughing Gas. This wonder drug was offered to my daughter for getting a baby tooth "wiggled" out of her gum. I declined and the tooth was out in less than 5 seconds after the doctor put some numbing gel on her tooth. In fact the tooth fell out using just the cotton tipped sticks he had the oral medication on. WOW! Sarah let out a little yelp and it was all over. Geez maybe I should of let them drug her up for that first! I remember when I was a kid that was not an option. You sat in that chair and saw the big needle filled with novacain coming at you and you took it like a soldier or else! No screaming or crying allowed! In fact I had 4 perfectly good teeth pulled to make room for my other permanent teeth. All molars too! Then after you get to enjoy the feeling that your face was a big puff of hot flesh jutting out from your skull and feeling yourself drool on yourself! Mom would spoil us with nice soft food and icecream too! Nope no laughing gas for me! I didn't get to experience the charms of that particular drug until the early 90's when my brother, sister in law and some others went up to northern Vermont to a Greatful Dead concert and there were these nice people selling these pretty balloons. But that is another story... :)

Need help

I am doing a trivia contest at work and one of the questions has me stumped.
What screen star was always shot at angles so his maleness would not be apparent?

More snow on the way!

Yes my lovelies we are getting 8 more inches of snow! Oh joy... I wish I could send some down south to my Mom and maybe to Miss Ginger too while I'm at it.
We had a nice "field trip" on Friday to Utica to a couple different museums. There are links to that in the next post with pictures. It was a cold and windy day. This morning is quite mild but I know that will be changing. I really don't have any news... Oh wait yes I do! I got a phone message on Friday from THE RACHAEL RAY SHOW! I remember filling out something for a segment under their "be on the show" part of the website but now I can't remember the topic! Anyhow they called and I am going to try to get back to them Monday. Wouldn't that be exciting if I got to be on the show! I just hope it wasn't for "The dirtiest house in America". LOL! Have a great day everyone and stay warm!

Plane crash near Buffalo

I was very upset to hear about the plane crash this morning that happened near Buffalo NY. The plane was inbound from Newark when it slammed into a house near the airport. No survivors on the plane and one killed on the ground. My heart goes out to the families.

A real post from me

I just realized I haven't posted in a few days. I know my sister reads this to see what I have been doing instead of E-MAILING me to find out! Come to think of it, I haven't had any new pictures from her recently either.
I am meeting someone after work to buy a new digital camera. Well, not new, but new to me. It is a Kodak easyshare but has a lot of great features. Normally sells for around $250 or more. I am getting it for $60. Yes I will make sure it works first.. I am hoping to take some great photos with it down in Washington this weekend. I want to get some together for a display in the gallery at Wesley where I work. They are looking for people to display art work as they lost the sponsoring of the Art council in Saratoga. Art council said not enough people go to Wesley and no one wants to go to a nursing home to look at art. What a bunch of jerks. The seniors really enjoy the art work and have a monthy activity where they go down and view the artwork and have a reception with the artist.
Time to get ready for work again.. I have been after Rich to go get a job. Farting around with computers isn't enough. We need two steady incomes to keep this house going and not have to struggle to pay the bills. It is not fair for me.

Planning another trip

Rich and I have decided to go to Washington DC for two days next week. I will really work out to only 1 and 1/2 days in between travel. We are going to pack in as much as we can on Saturday. We don't get down there until 10:00 pm on Friday and have to leave at 12:00 noon on Sunday. We are flying and have a hotel room for two nights. I am really looking forward to it and I am sure it will just whet my appetite to go again soon!
Sarah's father is out of jail and is letting me keep Otto for now. I'm sure he is right back to drinking of course. The mobile home is being repossessed. I am still in the process of gathering paperwork for the bankruptcy. They want just about everything! Bunch of hard asses but I guess they want to make sure I don't have any jewels or gold buried in the back yard. Not much else going on. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Oooo Duct Tape

What I learned today!

I downloaded songs onto an Ipod today! After figuring out the technical part it was easy. So now Sarah has a variety of music from Metallica and Kiss to Kate Perry! Yesterday we went to Albany and looked at some of the historical buildings. I got the car stuck in the driveway of the Schyuler Mansion. Ha! Took Rich 15 minutes to get it out. Then we went to the Albany Institute of History and Art.
We saw some nice art work and a couple mummies and a mummy dog! I have pictures and a video but haven't put them on the computer yet. We went out to lunch at the Golden Corral. That place was a zoo. Packed to the hilt. It was like feeding time at the zoo. It is a buffet for those of you not familiar with that place. The food is pretty good however and worth the visit. We went to the one in Albany, so to me it was a culture shock because up where I live there are not alot of minorities and there are alot more in Albany. I enjoyed looking at the different styles of dress and all the cute kids, but I don't do well in crowds and the kids were acting up (mine) so I was ready to leave pretty quickly! We then went over to Rich's sisters and visited for a bit and had dinner. I sat with his sister and we bonded over family photos! She is nice and seems to like me. I'm glad, its better if the family likes you! Work tomorrow and then Tuesday off for Dr. appts. Me to the sleep clinic and Sarah to AlbanyMed for her diabetes check up. Linda
